Mines are strategically concealed beneath the squares of the minefields, and players aim to uncover as many safe squares as possible while avoiding those hiding mines. Each uncovered square reveals the number of adjacent mines, which encompasses not only the immediately surrounding squares on the same level but also those directly adjacent above and below. For instance, a square in the center of the middle level interacts with eight squares on its level as well as nine each from the top and bottom levels, demonstrating how spatial awareness is crucial to gameplay. Conversely, a corner square will have different adjacency rules, affecting strategy accordingly.
